Selection criteria for magnetic-inductive and eddy current coating thickness gauges as well as optional accessories for special application cases.


	The magnetic-inductive method is used for measurements on iron/steel. The eddy current method is used for measurements on non-ferrous metals. Which substrate is to be measured? Are coatings to be measured on small components such as wires, washers, nuts, screw- heads etc.? Are single coatings to be measured or multi-layer coatings (multi-layer systems)? Is a zinc coating to be detected non-destructively under layers of paint, e.g. on car bodies? When are instruments used with integrated probes or separate probes? How large should the measurement range be for the instrument? How accurate should the measurement instrument be? Is a statistical evaluation of the measurement values required? Is measurement value storage required as well as an interface for subsequent transfer of measurement values to a printer or computer? Is software required for data transfer, with statistical evaluation of the measurement values as well as graphics presentation of trend and frequency, to a computer? Do measurements have to be carried out inside tubes or positions difficult to access such as in grooves or recesses? Should measurements be made on hot surfaces up to 300°C? Should the coating thickness be continually measured without lifting the probe?
