- Single coatings" can be measured according to one of the above mentioned methods.
- "Multi-coatings" of the same type, i.e. paint on paint on iron/steel or non-ferrous metals, can only be measured after each other. The thickness of the top layer can be determined by subtraction. By selecting the instrument "offset setting" (zero offset suppression) you can directly display the top layer without having to carry out any calculation.
- "Multi-coatings" not of the same type, i.e. paint on zinc on steel, can be non-destructively measured with all our combination instruments belonging to the Surfix® family. Both types of coating, paint and zinc, can be mutually measured on steel with the pre-selectable magnetic-inductive method. The pre-selectable eddy current method can only measure the thickness of the paint on the zinc coating. The thickness of the zinc coating is determined by subtraction. Both layers can be determined non-destructively when the two methods are used.
